PM Power Moves: Ending the Day with Intention

We talk a lot about morning routines—and for good reason. They set the tone for how we show up. But here's a truth that doesn't get nearly enough love: your evening routine is just as powerful. It's the secret weapon behind a successful tomorrow. It's where you choose calm over chaos, intention over inertia, and alignment over autopilot.

My evening routine isn't just about winding down—it's about resetting, reconnecting, and recommitting to the version of me I want to be.

Let me take you behind the scenes of what my evenings look like, not to say this is the "right" way—but to show how small, consistent actions can make a powerful difference.

🗓 Check My Commitments for the Next Day

Before I shift into evening mode, I spend a few minutes reviewing my schedule. Knowing what's ahead lets me mentally prepare and start the next day with confidence—not confusion.

🏃🏽‍♀️ Choose My Peloton Workouts

I pick my workouts the night before—usually a combination of a run, row, or cycling class with a short strength training session or a boot camp. I also plan a short, high-intensity "cash out" session: 5–10 minutes of boxing, battle ropes, medicine ball slams, or jump rope. (Choosing the workout in advance isn't just planning—it's a promise. It's me saying, "I'm already committed. I will show up.")

🧘🏽‍♀️ Add Five Minutes for Meditation

Meditation is essential to me. I carve out at least five minutes, often more, for stillness, reflection, and grounding. It's my way of saying yes to peace, yes to clarity, and yes to myself.

👟 Lay Out Workout Clothes and Shoes

This one might seem simple—but it makes a big difference. No digging through drawers at 5 a.m.—simply get up, get dressed, and get moving.

🍽 Finish Eating at Least Two Hours Before Bed

This habit has helped me tremendously with sleep quality and digestion. My Oura ring tracks my metrics. I see significant differences in my resting heart rate, the time it takes me to fall asleep, and my HRV when I give myself time to digest before hitting the sheets. This makes me feel much lighter, clearer, and more rested the next morning.

🥗 Pack Breakfast and Lunch for the Office

Even when I'm tired, I prep meals the night before I go to work in the office. It's an act of care for future me (who is always grateful for this part of the routine) and a powerful way to stay aligned with my nutrition goals.

🍵 Sip Evening Tea + Calm Magnesium

Each night, I wind down with a warm glass of tea mixed with a serving of Calm magnesium powder. This combination soothes my body and mind, setting the tone for proper rest.

🧴 Evening Beauty Routine

Skincare is part of my self-care—cleanse, moisturize, and don't skip brushing and flossing. It's a ritual that tells my body: you've done enough, and now it's time to rest (and makes my dental appointments just the way I like them...uneventful).

📚 Read Before Bed

I close the day with a few pages of a good book—something to inspire, relax, or simply help me unplug from screens and into stillness. I'm wrapping up Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn.

🛌 Sleep in a Cool, Quiet Room

I aim for lights to go out around 8:30 p.m.—yes, early! But consistency is key. I sleep in a cool room with white noise in the background. It's my perfect sleep sanctuary.

This routine isn't about perfection—it's about commitment. Every evening, I can choose how I'll show up tomorrow. These small habits reinforce a deeper truth: I am worth the effort. My goals, my peace, my energy—they all matter.
